Spring is near..

Spring is near. I will not actually say it is here yet, but veeery close.

Let me present: La Paloma
I have two of this one in my garden. But I have some diffiuculties in making it stay healthy. It seems to struggle a bit. But I hope it will be better with age.

Floribunda
Parentage: unknown
Flower size: 9cm
Scent: Mild fragrance.
Flowering: Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Height/Spread 50 to 75 cm
Hardiness USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Moving along with: White Gold.

I really hope this climber survived the hard winther we had this year. When I looked at it the other day, it dìdn`t look so great. But I am not giving up hope. Flowers with clusters of white flowes. Gorgeous!
Nydelig!

And then we have: Grace

Another Austin rose. This one has not been given the best conditions in my garden. I am sorry to say. Normally it struggles with too heavy Geraniums surrounding her. But this year I have moved away some of the invasive friends, and we hope for a better year.

Kalenderen sier at det er vår.-My calendar says its spring

But outside the snow is still covering everything.
Men utenfor dekker fremdeles snøen alt sammen

Let me begin with an unknown rose. I have for sometime thought this could be Romanze. But now I am not so sure. I guess this is a Hybrid Tea, but what? This was the first rose I bought when I moved back to Norway. I call it Camillas Rose ( named after my daughter, so this is her rose. )

Nydelig blomst i rosa/ korallfarge. Dufter.

Continuing with: Crown Princess Marghareta. Another favourite! This one has a wonderful colour and flowers all summer and all the way until frost comes.

Then there is a different little guy. Sekel. Norwegian too! This is really strange. Has all colours form pink to yellow and changing all the time. A really curious rose.
Artig sak.

I keep on dreaming

The snow is still here.. and still falling. So I guess it will be a while before we see the roses again. But at least we can dream of them.

Crocus Rose: I love this one! The shape and colour is just wonderful. Some mildew has occured on it, but not so bad.
Elsker denne her.

And here is: Jenny Duval. 'Président de Sèze' -Difficult to know since they are so similar.
Not much experiance with her yet. Plated las year. Got a bit bured from the sun since it came from a greenhouse ( Hesleberg ) But flowered early. I hope she has survived the strong winter this year.
Plantet henne i fjor.

Next one out is: Findlands Hvita Ros.
This one is usually the first one to flower in my garden, in June. It was a gift from my mother. I can see that I need to move this one again. It becomes bigger than I thought.

And the snow keeps a steady paste

And in the meantime, we keep dreaming about roses.
Og i mellomtiden drømmer vi om roser.

This cute thing is called Regensberg.
A small and not so tall, rose. But the flowers are really worth bending down for.

Flower size: 10 cm
Scent: Light but sweet
Flowering: Repeats well
Height/Spread Height: 75cm Spread: 1m
Hardiness Zone USDA zone 6

And then we move on to: Rhapsody in Blue
A lot of people are curious about this rose. It is often described as a blue rose, but obviously it`s not. The colour is wonderful at first, but tends to turn grey after some hours in the sun. This can be placed in partial shadow for best result. But it is strong!

Last one today is: Perdita.
I just cant say so much about this one yet. It`s fairly new, and have not shown itself from it`s best side. But the flowers are wonderful!

And while it snows outside

Outside it is now snowing.. again. So I guess it is alright to dream about roses.

A marsipane rose... looks like it comes right off from a cake. Penny Lane.
This is supposed to be a climber. But I find it a bit scrawny. But its still cute.

Ok.. moving along with: Ashram

I do have a weakness for orange roses. I don`t know why. Difficult to place, but soo nice. This one is definetly misplaced and has to be moved. I think I`ll put this one in a large pot.

Next orange wonder: Amber Flush
I bought this one in Stavanger late last summer. I keep it in a container, since its colour is difficult. It is just goregeus! So I wonder how it will survive the winter.

Next three....

First I want to start off with one of the favourites: Eden Rose.

The picture does not really justify it. It is so full and gorgeous that it is hard to belive. The buds and under the petals there are hints of green, which gives this a "rustic" look.
I was trying to sleep last night, but I was dreaming away where to put new roses. And than I thought about the two pots I have outside my front door. -Why haven`t I thought about putting a climber in each of these? They are over 1m tall so I think they will do fine.
So I have to get one more of this one, and have one on each side of the door? ( See pic. below. )

Origin: Marie-Louise Meilland (France, before 1985).

Scent: Mild fragrance
Flowering: Occasional repeat later in the season.
Height/Spread Height: 100 to 365 cm
Hardiness Zone USDA zone 5b through 9b. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant

So I think it will be great with a rose on each side here. But I need to rebuildt the arch with something a bit stronger than apple twigs...

Anyhoooo, lets move on to a not so pink rose... But a beatiful and strong one. Nostalgie.

This is a real winner here. It blooms al summer, and is very resistant to rain. Strong stems. The buds are so beautiful that you can put them directly on a cake!

And then I want to introduce: Bella Rosa.

Cute... flowers all summer... But the colour is difficult to place. A bit to strong for me. But I have this in a place where it can stand a bit alone and be enyojed for what it is.

 Origin: Reimer Kordes (Germany, 1981).

Moving right along….

Let me present: Rumba!
A really cute rose. –Small. The flowers are small but powerful. The color is a bit difficult to place. So I keep this in a flowerpot next to a Purple Clematis. They usually flower at the same time. Giving each other a nice contrast.  It flowers for a long time as well. This one kept on until the snow arrived.

 023

Origin: Poulsen, Germany 1958

Flower size: 6 cm
Scent: Light and fruity
Flowering: Repeats well
Height/Spread 50cm. /50cm
Hardiness Zone 6.

And then we have: Blue Parfume

No.. it is not blue. Not even close. Lavender and dark pink, I would say. But here in my garden this rose has unfortunately been placed in a bad spot. The soil is too hard there. So it really does not grow much. I have to figure out a better place for it. Not very rain resistant either. So this is the only flower i have seen that was not spotted and ruined by the rain. But it is a gorgeous rose.

022

And I would like you to meet: Louise Odier

She is not fully grown in my garden yet. Still young.  And she has not convinced me why she is such a favorite in many gardens yet. But I am waiting for this summer to see what she will show me. Also, I think I might have pruned her a bit wrong. She needs to be controlled… naughty girl!
